Do your students need more fluency practice with silent e CVCe words with long a, i, o and u? These Sailboat Sentences give beginning and struggling readers the repetition they need to read with confidence.
Each sentence grows one word per line. Students reread the same words again and again until they read the whole sentence on their own. It's a great fit for students with reading struggles and students with dyslexia.

How to Use
Each page is one Sailboat Sentence. Students read the first word at the top. Then they read down one line at a time, adding a word each time, until they read the whole sentence at the bottom.
After reading, students do the activity on the page. They either write the correct word from the sentence under each picture, or draw a picture of the sentence. Pick the version that fits each student.
There is nothing to cut or laminate. Print and go. These work well in small groups, intervention time, as morning work or at home.

Why I made these
I taught 3rd grade for 7 years, and I've homeschooled my own kids for 12. I've also tutored children with reading difficulties and dyslexia. Sailboat Sentences are something I used with those students. Reading the same words over and over, one line at a time, helped them read the full sentence with confidence.
