Do you have beginning or struggling readers who need more fluency practice? This bundle gives you all four Sailboat Sentence sets in one download.
Each sentence grows one word per line. Students reread the same words again and again until they read the whole sentence on their own. It's a great fit for students with reading struggles and students with dyslexia.
The sets follow a phonics order, so you can start where your students are and move up.

How to Use
Each page is one Sailboat Sentence. Students read the first word at the top. Then they read down one line at a time, adding a word each time, until they read the whole sentence at the bottom.
After reading, students do the activity on the page. They either write the correct word from the sentence under each picture, or draw a picture of the sentence. Pick the version that fits each student.
There is nothing to cut or laminate. Print and go. These work well in small groups, intervention time, as morning work or at home.
FAQ
What is a Sailboat Sentence? It's a fluency pyramid. The sentence grows one word per line, so students reread the start of the sentence many times. That repetition builds fluency and confidence for beginning and struggling readers.
Do I need to prep anything? No. Print the pages and hand them out.
Can I print in black and white? Yes. Every set comes in color and in black and white.
Can I share this with other teachers? Your purchase is for one teacher. Other teachers can buy their own copy from the store.
Can I get a refund? All sales are final because this is a digital download.
Why I made these
I taught 3rd grade for 7 years, and I've homeschooled my own kids for 12. I've also tutored children with reading difficulties and dyslexia. Sailboat Sentences are something I used with those students. Reading the same words over and over, one line at a time, helped them read the full sentence with confidence.
What Teachers Say:
"These were perfect for my kindergarteners last year. I am now using this to help close gaps for a couple first grade students. Thank you!" Jennifer P.
