In this word sort, students get to feed monsters special cookies. Each cookie has a one syllable word. Students read the word, decide if the vowel is long or short, and place it on the right monster mat. It is a fun way to practice short vowels and silent e words side by side.
Why I made these
I taught third grade for seven years. Since then I have tutored children who struggle with reading, including kids with dyslexia. I made these so students get real phonics practice that feels more like a puzzle or a game. And you can just print and go.
