FAQ
What is a fluency pyramid? It is a sentence built one word at a time. The top line has one word. Each line adds a word until the bottom line is a full sentence. Students reread the same words again and again, which builds speed, accuracy and confidence.
What grade is it for? The sets are written for kindergarten and first grade. They also work for older students who are still learning these phonics patterns, in intervention or SPED groups.
Are the sentences decodable? Yes. Each set focuses on one phonics pattern, so students practice the skill they're learning.
Can I print in black and white? Yes. The cards come in color and in black and white.
Which set should I start with? Follow your phonics scope and sequence. A common order is CVC words, digraphs, beginning blends, ending blends, three-letter blends, silent e, then vowel teams.
Why I made these I used fluency pyramids while teaching and tutoring students with dyslexia. Building a sentence one word at a time keeps the task small and doable.
